Vinyl floors in the living room and bedroom

Vinyl floors in the living room and bedroom

Beautiful hardwood flooring has long been a classic flooring choice for living rooms and bedrooms, but their cost can make them an unrealistic option for many homeowners. Today, however, thanks to technological advancements in both production and design, vinyl flooring provides an attractive and affordable alternative. Due to vinyl’s ability to realistically mimic real wood or ceramic tiles, homeowners can now enjoy the aesthetics of natural materials but at a more accessible price point.

Vinyl also offers several other benefits that make it an excellent flooring choice for living rooms and bedrooms. It’s softer and more comfortable underfoot compared to hardwood, stone or tile floors, and because of an added wear layer on top of the vinyl flooring, it also offers superior resistance to stains and scratches. And on top of looking and feeling great, vinyl floors are easy to install and even easier to clean and maintain.

Vinyl flooring in the living room and bedroom: what is the best type?

The best type of vinyl flooring for your living room and bedrooms will depend on factors such as the overall style of your home and whether you want a floor that you can install yourself. The amount of traffic and whether or not you have kids and pets will also influence which vinyl floor is best suited for your living room and bedrooms.

As the name implies, the living room is a space for relaxing and spending time with family and friends. It's a room that's likely to experience a high volume of traffic and depending on whether you have kids and pets, it may encounter the occasional battering. The bedroom is a more personal space, where comfort and cosiness are key. However, in the case of children’s bedrooms, a durable and practical floor will also be key requirements.

Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) and vinyl roll are durable, warm underfoot, sound-absorbing, and easy to clean and install, making them both suitable flooring options for living rooms and bedrooms. The deciding factors often come down to personal preference and budget.

Is LVT suitable for living rooms and bedrooms?

Luxury Vinyl Tile is durable, warm underfoot, sound-absorbing, and easy to clean and maintain, making it an excellent flooring choice for living rooms and bedrooms.

While all of our vinyl collections offer wood designs and finishes, we designed our LVT range specifically with a wood-look finish in mind.

Our range of rigid composite vinyl tile, Starfloor Click Ultimate, in particular, offers a select range of wood designs that recreate the look and feel of wood so well that it could be mistaken for the real thing. Using a high definition decorative layer and Plus Effect technology, which applies the embossing-in-register (EIR) technique to add life-like traces and patterns to each plank, we have created a beautiful selection of modern and stylish wood designs that immediately add warmth and style to your living room and bedrooms.

Starfloor Click Ultimate also offers ultimate resistance against moisture, scratches and scuffs; ideal in high traffic areas such as living rooms and if you’re looking for a kid and pet-friendly flooring option. Using RCC technology, Starfloor Click Ultimate is adapted to any environment. It’s wear-proof, stain-proof, weather-proof. This means they can be installed in any room in your home, even in living rooms and bedrooms that are exposed to direct sunlight. They’re super low maintenance and easy to clean. They also incorporate Soundblock technology for ultimate sound absorption and thanks to the new i4F click system, installing them is easier than ever. And like all our LVT products, they’re 100% phthalate-free.

Is vinyl roll suitable for living rooms and bedrooms?

Like LVT, vinyl roll is durable, warm underfoot, sound-absorbing, and easy to clean and maintain, making it an excellent flooring choice for living rooms and bedrooms.

Vinyl roll does have a wider variety of design and colour choices available compared to LVT. While LVT designs are focussed on closely mimicking the look and feel of natural materials such as wood and tile, vinyl roll offers a much broader range of design, colour and style options. So as well as designs that reproduce the look of natural materials, vinyl roll has enormous design potential. Be inspired by contemporary and classic living room and bedroom flooring ideas to achieve the perfect vinyl flooring finish for your home.

Vinyl roll’s foam backing creates a cushioned surface, while also providing thermal and acoustic comfort, making it soft and warm underfoot and helping to create cosy and welcoming spaces in your living room and bedrooms. A cushioned floor is also a nice welcome for your feet when getting out of bed each morning.

How do you maintain vinyl floors in the living room and bedroom?

Cleaning and maintaining the vinyl floors in your living room and bedroom is simple, fast and easy. In addition to a basic cleaning routine, there are few additional things you can do to prevent premature wear and prolong the life of your vinyl floor.

• Use protective mats at entrance ways to trap dirt and grime that would otherwise be tracked onto your floor. Mats without latex or rubber backings are recommended to avoid possible discolouration.
• Use furniture and appliance pads and casters to protect your vinyl floor from indentation. Use large surface, non-staining floor protectors on furniture legs and equip heavy furniture and appliances with flat, non-staining casters.
