REVERSE: Note Design Studio debuts circular exhibit at Tarkett Atelier for Paris Design Week

09th September 2021

From September 9, at the Atelier Tarkett in Le Marais, Paris Design Week attendees can visit an immersive installation that brings Tarkett’s PLAY to life.

REVERSE is an installation designed by Note Design Studio in collaboration with Tarkett. Together, the flooring maker and the creative studio uncover the processes of making and re-making through an exploration of materials and circularity. Using the finished product as the starting point for their journey, over the course of the exhibition a new physical form is revealed and the story evolves.

By reversing the making process, while shining a light on the innovative work of technicians and craftspeople, layers are stripped away to discover a new solution for the future. Using Tarkett’s range of groundbreaking materials - the circular selection - that are innovative, reusable and recyclable, REVERSE explores a fully circular material experience.

This unexpected and creative display puts the spotlight on Tarkett’s ReStart® take-back and recycling programme, allowing flooring installation offcuts and post-use materials to be sent to Tarkett’s dedicated recycling centres. The materials are then recycled into high-quality raw materials to create new flooring.

Shedding new perspectives on PLAY

This installation is the latest continuation of PLAY, a magazine in which Tarkett and Note Design Studio interpret circular economy as an inspirational opportunity to design progressive spaces. The magazine features a curation of sustainable and post-use recyclable Tarkett products, providing inspiration for architects and designers looking to make conscious choices for people and the planet, by using sustainable materials to create amazing spaces.

Together with Note Design Studio, Tarkett shares a vision for embracing a wide range of influences to push the boundaries of its collections. For this issue of PLAY, the creative studio and the flooring maker have drawn inspiration from across Tarkett’s product families to bring readers closer to some of the most engaging materials in design and architecture today. With an inspirational book and a visual journey inspired by the bonds that are forged through design, an array of elements, shapes, forms and textures are explored, from micro, mezzo and macro levels.
