Principles lived by. Standards met.
Our commitment to a circular economy goes back a long way. Since 2011 we’ve been working with EPEA to make the principles of Cradle to Cradle® integral to how we do business. It means we not only question (and test) the environmental and social impact our products have in the here and now, but also, what impact they will have in the future. Because we see every product we make as an ingredient in a future manufacturing process. Minimising the burden on the world and maximising our positive impact.
Making conscious choices. For people and planet.
Tarkett Human-Conscious DesignTM.
Our Cradle to CradleTM certifications are awarded on five criteria:
Wood floors: Cradle to CradleTM Silver certification
Tarkett has been awarded with the Cradle to CradleTM Silver Certificate for its multilayer parquet flooring. The certificate includes a vast majority of Tarkett parquet ranges manufactured in Sweden and in Poland. Tarkett is the first wood flooring producer in Europe with Cradle to CradleTM certified products.
Tarkett's performance was evaluated at gold level for example for material reutilization and water stewardship.
Linoleum floors: Cradle to CradleTM Bronze, Silver and Gold certification
Tarkett’s linoleum is the world’s first to be Cradle to Cradle TM certified for its sustainable approach. The compact linoleum range was Cradle to Cradle TM certified Silver in 2011 and still holds this status today.
In order to achieve this certification, the manufacturing process has to meet several requirements, in areas such as energy usage and water stewardship. At the linoleum manufacturing site in Narni, Italy, a closed-loop installation was set up in order to reuse the water used in the cooling process; and a commitment to increase the share of renewable. Following Tarkett’s commitment to sustainability and eco design, further linoleum flooring lines now offer Cradle to CradleTM Silver certified Gold products, including Veneto Essenza 100% linen and new Originale Essenza collections.
The latest innovation in the linoleum range is the LinoWall, the first and only approved linoleum wall covering, which is Cradle to CradleTM certified Silver.
iQ One vinyl floor collection: Cradle to CradleTM Gold certification
iQ One is the new generation of homogeneous non-PVC flooring and is perfectly balanced between aesthetics, flexibility and strength. iQ One benefits from a formula of plasticiser-free homogeneous thermoplastic flooring, while providing the same unique benefits that have made iQ One a recognised name for decades.
At Tarkett we are proud to have pioneered the world’s first Cradle to CradleTM certified Gold homogeneous flooring.
Carpet: DESSO EcoBase® Carpet Tile Backing: Cradle to CradleTM Gold certification
Made with 100% positively defined materials, Tarkett’s DESSO EcoBase® carpet tile backing has achieved Cradle to CradleTM Gold-level certification, with Cradle to CradleTM Platinum level for material health. It contains an average of 80% recycled content (upcycled chalk) and is made in a plant powered exclusively by renewable electricity. The entire backing can be separated from the carpet tile and 100% recycled at Tarkett’s purpose-built production line. What’s more, recycling EcoBase-backed carpet tiles with ECONYL yarn delivers up to 84% CO2 savings compared to incineration.
iD Revolution is Tarkett first non-PVC LVT Collection. It is the first Cradle to Cradle Gold-certified modular resilient flooring, made with recycled and bio-based materials. Using innovative and abundant raw materials in its conception, iD Revolution is the result of Tarkett’s proven expertise in materials and experience of developing sustainable, innovative solutions. It was developed to respond to our customers’s non-PVC requirements and provide the same technical performances as the PVC-based Planks (stiffness, indentation, curl, aesthetic, installation, etc.).
"The revolution starts under your feet".
